The STONEFREAK Sessions Are Now Over

Children,

The time has come to unleash the fourth and last part of the series.

It was a real fun to build up those sessions and I'm so proud to know some people actually did enjoy them.

For those of you who want to get some more, just be aware that I'm working on guitar-driven 70's Heavy Rock podcasts, that may kick some other asses.

I wanna thank my boys at Disque Primeur for giving me the opportunity to do this.

PLAY THIS LOUD! LOUDER!! LOUDER!!!

Frozen by the snow & BURNT BY THE SUN

Here comes a new track to this all-new player. It doesn't fit though. But who cares? Music is what counts after all.

BURNT BY THE SUN is a NJ based band, specialised in delivering extreme post HxC oriented good Rock'n'Roll, because that what it's all about.

This particular song, "Forlani", is taken from their second full length, "The Perfect Is The Enemy Of The Good", released 2003 on Relapse. They also released a demo first and a split LP with label-mates LUDDITE CLONE.

Getting back to the music itself, BURNT BY THE SUN is one of the greatest forms of extreme music today. Their great mix of brutallity, riffage, technicity and melody (there's some, I can tell) is particularly distinctive from the numerous bands they shared stages with. Kind of fresh I would say, and extreeeeemelly gooooood.

Enjoy that track and go get yourself a copy of their latest (last?) effort.

A new player to be up soon

Hi folks,

I tried a new player which is far more efficient than the one I use. A new song will be posted pretty soon, expect some brilliant earth-shaking fast & heavy "Neo-Post-HxC-call it as you wish Rock'n'Roll" that gonna make your head banging like there's no tomorrow. And there will be no tomorrow.

I'll soon post some songs from my own vinyl collection. 60's and 70's Rock'n'roll gems you will need to buy from your favorite local record store.

Noise for Christ's sake

This player is a pain in the ass.

It cuts songs.

Too bad 'cause I just added "Goat Lips" from LADDIO BOLOCKO. Those guys crafted a unique form of ambient and chaotic noise, straight from the guts of NYC. As most of the greatest bands of the 90's, they were short lived. I can only recommend The Life & Times Of LADDIO BOLOCKO, a 2xCD compilation that shows the indeniable talent of this band.

"Goat Lips" starts as a false start pop song (knowing that a pop song would never sound that way), then turns into an indie post HxC song DRIVES LIKE JEHU could have played. Then, fury and madness take over the music and it all becomes a solid mass of unquestionable chaotic deconstruction (I'm not sure those last words mean anything put together in that particular order).

Listening to LADDIO BOLOCKO at a descent volume (because it's meant to be played louder than what your neighbours can tolerate) can actually drive you crazy.

LADDIO BOLOCKO was an essential band of the 90's underground NYC scene. Well, in my opinion...

The Architect & The Arsonist

Ladies & gentlemen, dear readers,

The player is up and running again. I finally found time to add a title.
Have you ever heard about that awesome band called LUDDITE CLONE, that short-lived, ass-kicking, no-prisoner-taking, nj-based brilliant band? As far as I know they only released an Ep on Relapse (from which this track is taken - vinyl version available through Cyberdine) and a split record with a band I don't remember the name (ask Google brothers...!).

"Arthropod" is sharp, pedal-to-the-metal thrash influenced Hard Core kind of (don't forget to mention the notion of heavyness, it might help people to undestand what it's all about).

Well, just listen to this track and tell me what you think (any comment is welcome).

Watcha gonna do boy?

I thought it was time to slow it down a little bit.
You know, all this sonic violence could drive people crazy sometimes.
And give some bad headaches.
So I decided to switch to the heaviness, and monolithic riffage.
For those of you who don't know YOB, prepare to feel like the world is crashing down.
Well, if you're into Cathedral, Electric Wizard, Boris and that kind of bands, then YOB will suit you fine.
"Quantum Mystic" is the first song of their last album, "The Unreal Never Lived", before the band called it quits. (Guitarist/singer Mike Scheidt now plays in his new band MIDDIAN).
I think this first song is the greatest of that 4-track LP.
Heavy as hell, unforgettable guitar riff, thundering drums and over-the-top screeching vocals.
Now it's time to chill out, and lay back... It's Sunday man.

Go for the throat!

I thought you would like this one as much as I do.

DISCORDANCE AXIS, those Japanese grinders released a lot of 7", tapes and other full lengths, and if you're into Grindcore, you have to check them out!

"Heavy Water" is taken from their LP "Ulterior", later compiled with other tracks as "Original Sound Version 1992-1995", which is, by the way, an exquisite comp.

I'm not sure the band is still existing, I've hear they had splitted and now play in various bands. "Heavy Water" is one of my favorite songs, and one of the longest too. Sure, there's some NAPALM DEATH is this way of playing, but their sound is completely different. 3 guys. Drums + guitar. The screams are pretty convincing, and I like them a lot.

Check this song and buy their records, they definitely deserve it.

No one here gets out alive

Do you know Melt Banana? Do you know Arab On Radar? Do you know Fantomas? Do you know what those 3 bands would sound like if they were supposed to play altogether, being high on drugs (mostly speed)?
APES OF WRATH's only album would approximately answer this question.
These guys are crazy. Their album clocks in at 15 minutes in 15 tracks (knowing "Sun Ra" is the longest track of the album), revisiting Hardcore, Grindcore and harsh Noise.
This album is an absolute must-have. Extreme fun and fresh madness, that's what it's all about.
And the crisp sound of this album makes it a lovely little piece of plastic you won't ever be fed up with.
Try it, you may never be the same again.

The apocalyptic vision of a criminally insane charismatic cult leader

How dumb it is not to post music on a music blog?

You're right, talking about music without having the possibilty to hear it is a waste. I'm not into posting full length albums, nevertheless, I'll post one song as often as possible, and review an album/band.

Let me start today with that extremely aggressive track from WATCHMAKER's second album : "Kill. Fucking. Everyone."

This Boston-based bunch of extreme Metal freaks delivers evil, in every note, in every song. This almost-30 minute album is filled with loathsome hatred. You can even feel it.

When it comes to the music, expect one of the most aggressive stuff you've ever listened to. First take a solid Death Metal basis, add a lethal dose of Grindcore. You're not even close.

Don't forget to inject some Black Metal evil seeds into the recipe. A drop of Thrash is also added.

It would be very hard to simply label the band. I'd say WATCHMAKER plays some Extreme Aggro Death Core (I love the term "Aggro", I don't even know what it means).

You know what? Buy it. Love it. And kill. Fucking. Everyone.

It's all about original pressings!

The original pressing, it's all that matters!

If a band comes from the UK, please buy the original UK pressing! A second UK press will always be more valuable than a first French press for exemple...

For exemple, considering the band MAY BLITZ (one of the greatest UK band ever), if you find an original UK press of their second album "2nd of May" (Vertigo 6360037 - complete with its original Vertigo poly-lined inner sleeve), know that this original copy will continue to increase in value throughout the years, more than a German press.
Always choose the genuine, the original press!

Another exemple : AMON DÜÜL II "Phallus Dei", on Liberty Germany is more valuable than a French press. The German copy will cost about €100, and a French one will hardly cost €35/40.

The original pressing guys, it's all that matters!
